our story
why mind goals? why a podcast?
Siobhan here... Well, it all started with an idea back in 2021 when I wanted to talk about my professional soccer experiences. I had been through some tough times (injuries, getting cut, adjusting to new countries, the normal athlete-issues for a female), and i had been through some great times (traveled, made new friends, progressed in my career, etc.) Initially, I wanted to talk about these experiences and give other athletes advice. This still stands, however, I didn't want to give advice without having more of a credible background to "back it up". I completed my master's degree in sport & performance psychology in 2023 to seal the deal.
I knew I wanted to share my story, and if you know me, you know I love to write. With that being said, I didn't feel like I could reach a large audience via writing. This led me to podcasting. I had to get over the sound of my voice (lol) and just start talking.
In January of 2024, I decided to record myself on my computer's webcam and my friend's microphone with a snippet explaining the podcast idea to my Instagram followers.
Bare with me I'm almost done. This is where Taylor (my producer) comes into play. Taylor responded to my story and said, "I love the vision, let me help!". And that he did. Taylor and I met at a church retreat about 15 years ago, and remained friends throughout those years. When I tell you an angel fell into my lap, it was Taylor! He is so talented, creative, driven, and best of all - shares the vision of the MindGoals podcast with me.
For over a year, we have committed to recording episodes weekly, staying disciplined and staying motivated. We both hope to reach more athletes and be able to share the good word with the world, so we can help anyone who listens get 1% better.
Meet the minds behind the goals
Hi I'm Siobhan, your host. I grew up in Katy, Texas, although I was originally born in Scotland. After countless of years participating in youth sports, I decided to put all of my eggs in the basket with soccer. Through my four years of playing soccer professionally in Europe, I learned that resiliency is a key component to truly overcoming obstacle that life throws your way. I am now a sport and performance psychology consultant, professional soccer player, yoga instructor, and soccer coach.
What’s up, I’m Taylor, co-founder and producer of Mind Goals. Born and raised in Katy, Texas, I grew up with a passion for sports, spending most of my time on the baseball field. After high school, I took that same drive to Texas A&M, where I studied Visualization and worked with 12th Man Productions as a live camera operator for Aggie Athletics. I also became the official Aggie football game highlight editor at TexAgs. With years of experience in sports media and video production, I’m the guy behind the camera making sure Mind Goals looks as good as it sounds.
